THE GOSAIKUNDA LAKE TRIP

An alpine freshwater oligotrphic holy lake situated in Langtang National Park is one of the famous religious tourist destinations of the country. The lake is visited by thousands of pilgrims throughout a year and has special crowd of visitors during Janai Purnima festival. The wetland is a home of more than 100 species of flowering plants, birds and animals including rare species Red Panda and Musk Deer. 

 

Journey start from Kathmandu to northern valley of Trishuli and to Dhunche at an altitude of 2,100 m /6,890 ft. From here trek start uphill towards Gosaikunda Lake. The area was designated Nepal’s first Himalayan National Park in 1971 and use of firewood is strictly prohibited. During the trek we can witness snowcapped Mountain such as Langtang Lirung (7,246 m) Gang Chhenpo (6,388 m) and Naya Kangri (5,846 m) lie to the south; and Dorji Lakpa (6,966m) protects the east end of the valley.

 

Itinerary In Detail

  • 1: Arriva in Kathmandu(1,400m/4592ft.)

    Upon arrival in Kathmandu’s Tribhuvan International Airport, meet Asiatic roads representative, assist and transfer to the hotel. At the hotel’s lobby welcome refreshments will be served and room check in assistance provided. Shortly afterwards there will be a trek/ tour briefing at the hotel’s lobby.

    Eve: Welcome dinner at Nepali restaurant featuring cultural program.

    Overnight at hotel.

  • 2: Drive to Dhunche(2,000m/6,560)-100km/4 hrs.

    spend a leisure morning for the last-minute preparation.Later after late breakfast start scenic drive to Dhunche which may takes 4~g hrs. Depending on the road condition.Upon arrival in at a teahouse lodge.

    Dinner and overnight at teahouse lodge.

  • 3: Treak to singompa "Chandanbari"(3,250 m/10,660ft.)-6 hrs.

    After breakfast start treak to singhumba, leave the toun abd treak gently until we reach to Ghatte Khola.From here start uphill all the way until we reach singhumba.treak in mostly through the dense pine and juniper forest.In between we stop for lunch in Deavra;li.Upon arrival cheak in at teahouse lodge

  • 4: Trek to Lauribinayak (3,920 m / 12,860 ft.) – 7 hrs.

    The trail climb steeply up a ridge that marks a transition zone between rich, moist mountain, forest on the northern slopes and dry scrub vegetation on the slopes that face south.

    Remember to look back for the views of the village framed by snowcapped Ganesh Himal. The trail crosses behind the ridge and stays in deep forests for a while, then emerges onto the saddle of Chalang Pati (3,550 m / 11,645 ft.) for lunch. From here as  the trail ascends, there are the outstanding views of across the Langtang Valley to Langtang Lirung.

  • 5: Trek to Gosaikunda (4,310 m) & 3~4 hrs.

    Climb a gentle sloping rhododendron covered mountainside from the monastery while looking down on the deep Trishuli Khola. Ahead are the mountains surrounding Gosaikund as the monotonous wide path crosses the ridge summit leading to the mountainside on the Langtang Khola side.

    The wide ridge route continues becoming rocky and then continues along the right flank of the mountain in a normal size trail. As one approaches the Trishuli Khola, the slope eases when the first lake appears, at the second lake begin a short climb and then the third lake marks the arrival into Gosaikund. On the Lakeshore is the Lingam and Yoni (the male and female representation of Lord Shiva and his consort Parvati) around which are a few guesthouses. Rest of the day is free to explore around Gosaikunda lakes.

    Dinner and overnight at Teahouse lodge.  

     

  • 6: Backtrack to Singhgumba “Chandanbari” – 6~7 hrs.

    In the morning explore around Gokyo Lakes. Later after breakfast start backtrack to Singhgumba.

    Dinner and overnight at Teahouse lodge. 

  • 7: Backtrack to Dhunche – 4 hrs. & drive to Kathmandu – 4~5 hrs.

    Backtrack to Dhunche and drive to Kathmandu. Upon arrival check in at hotel.

    Dinner and overnight at hotel.     

  • 8: Final Departure.

    Free until final departure transfer to Tribhuvan International Airport.
