Itinerary In Detail

Day 01: Arrive Cochin
Arrival in Cochin. Meet your representative and transfer to your hotel.

Day 02: Cochin
Morning begins your Cochin tour with visit to St. Francis Church, this is India’s oldest European-built church. Continue on to Mattanchery Dutch Palace (closed on Friday), a double-storied palace is one of the oldest e European-builtxamples of the Portuguese architecture with oriental influence and is unique from the historical and architectural point of view. Proceed to Jewish synagogue (closed on Friday & Saturday) is the oldest active synagogue in the Commonwealth of Nations. It was built in 1568 by the Malabar Yehudan people or Cochin Jewish community in the Kingdom of Cochin. Later visit Chinese fishing Nets which were introduced in 11th Century.
This evening, attend a Kathakali Dance Performance, it a highly stylized classical Indian dance-drama noted for the attractive make-up of characters, elaborate costumes, detailed gestures and well-defined body movements presented in tune with the anchor playback music and complementary percussion.

Day 03: Cochin-Munnar
Morning transfer by road to Munnar, an old British Hill Station, set amidst spectacular tea estates.
Munnar is situated at the confluence of three mountain streams – Mudrapuzha, Nallathanni and Kundala at 1600m above sea level.
Check into the Windermere Estate, located on a cardamom plantation.
This afternoon visit Munnar town, a bustling centre with plenty of tea and spice shops, and the The DARE (Development Activities in Rehabilitative Education) School, an initiative of Srishti Welfare Centre supported by Tata Global Beverages Limited. The school which provides hope and opportunity to the lives of differently-abled children aged between 4 to 18 years of plantation workers.

Important : Srishti Welfare Centre remain closed on Saturday afternoon and Sundays. Normal timing to visit is 0930 hrs till 1700 hrs.

Day 04: Munnar
Morning proceed to visit Eravikulam national park (closed in Feb and March for breeding). After visit return to the Hotel.
After Lunch at the hotel proceed by Jeeps (4 hrs retrun) to visit Kulukkumali eastate – the highly located tea factory, still practices manual tea processing.
While returning take a brief stop at Anyyirangal dam, one of the less populated dams in the region, (if people are lucky they could see elephants as the name implies).

Important: Tea Factory / Museum remain closed on Monday. Plucking is not done on Saturday and Monday

Day 05: Munnar-Periyar
Morning, head to the hills from Munnar town around 6am with picnic breakfast. Watch the sun’s first rays cast magic dust and bring the hills alive. Soak the aroma from nearby spice gardens. Walk along with tea pickers as they begin their day. Navigate through grasslands. And fleetingly remember you’re at an altitude of 1,800m above sea level.
Later drive down to Later leave for Periyar by surface. Arrive Periyar & check in at the hotel.
Periyar is South India’s most popular wildlife sanctuary, encompassing an area of 777 sq. km. Set on the attractive man-made Periyar Lake; it attracts over 300,000 visitors a year. Though the sanctuary was made a part of Project Tiger in 1973, it is better known for its elephants.
Afternoon tour for Spice Plantations for a nice walk through the spice plantations or the winding pathways among the plantations, the thing that strikes you first is the lingering aroma in the air. The scent may be of cloves, nutmeg, pepper, cinnamon or cardamom and sometimes a fragrance that combines the scents of two or more spices. The geographical and climatic peculiarities of Kumily such as the cool climate and its elevation from the sea level make it ideal for spice cultivation.
Evening proceed to witness Kalaripayattu Show – the oldest of martial arts-is a gift to the modern world and known as the mother of all martial arts. legend traces the 3000-year old art form to sage Parasurama-the master of all martial art forms and credited to be the re-claimer of Kerala from the arabian sea. Kung-fu, popularized by the monks of the shaoline temple traces its ancestry to Bodhi Dharma-an Indian Buddhist monk and Kalaripayattu master. (Show Time : 06-07 PM)

Day 06: Periyar - Kumarakom
Morning around 06:30 AM, proceed for boat ride at lake Periyar (Boatride time : 07:30-09:00 AM)
Periyar National Park to view the wildlife by Common Boat. Situated within the confines of the Western Ghats in the southern Indian state of Kerala, Periyar National Park and Tiger Reserve is one of the most captivating wildlife parks in the world. The park has a picturesque lake at the heart of the sanctuary. Since boat travel is the only means of transport in the park, large areas can be covered in a short time. Among the game found here are gaur (the largest of the world’s wild oxen), elephant, wild pig, sambar, barking deer, mouse deer, the rare and endangered lion-tailed macaque, the Nilgiri langur, the common langur and the bonnet macaque, porcupine, Malabar squirrel, wild dog and tiger. Among the birds commonly seen are darters, cormorant, osprey, kingfisher and kite, great hornbill, grey hornbill, hill mynas, orioles and racket-tailed drongos.
After breakfast check out and drive to Kumarakom,
Kumarakom on the banks of the mighty lake, Vemband.
Arrive and check in at Hotel. Evening enjoy sunset cruise on the Vemband Lake.

Day 07: Kumarakom
Moring enjoy optional session of yoga followed by breakfast.
Around noon embark Houseboat, lunch onboard and cruise through the canals and visit local life and Snake boat that is used during snake boat race. Float in sheer bliss as Kerala’s traditional Kettuvalloms or houseboats, styled as per the norms of tradition yet equipped with every luxury and every modern amenity offer the opportunity to relax on the serene waters of the Vembanad Lake. Stay, dine and truly experience the timeless beauty of life along the banks of Kerala.
Note: Houseboats sail only during day time and come to halt in the night since local fishermen place fishing nets on the backwaters during the night. Overnight onboard the houseboat

Day 08: Kumarakom- Houseboat

Day 09: Alleppey - Mararikulam
After breakfast onboard, embark the houseboat and transfer by road Mararikulam. With endless miles of sand beaches and swaying palms all you need to do here is relax and unwind.
With in just a few hours in this resort you will feel all your stress ebbing away. Not only is the air that you breathe crisp and fresh but also the food you eat. The menu depends upon the fresh catch of the day from the sea and vegetable brought in form own organic farm next door.

Day 10: Mararikulam
Today wake up to a session of yoga followed by breakfast. Later, explore the fishing villages nearby on the back of a cycle. Just before dinner visit organic farm. You will love the farm kitchen where you can pick your own veggies and assist in preparing and cooking them. Else, you could savour the buffet spread at the restaurant accompanied by classical music played live.

Day 11: Leave Mararikulam
Moring transferred to Cochin airport for fly back home.
